WHY  using synthetic minerals instead of industrial or natural products

The synthetic minerals provided by Mineral Research Processing company are devoted to laboratories involved in research in ceramics (structural ceramics, glass ceramics, and bioceramics, medical and dental. ceramics

There are many  reasons for  studying the synthesis of minerals having a  controlled chemistry and mineralogy

a)  the need to  understand reactions occurring in  the lithosphere on  or  near the surface or  in rocks. These reactions occurring in the open  system  may  be as large in  scale as  in  the range of variable  such  as pressure, temperature and time.

b)   technical  and strategic: search  for  cheaper , better replacements  for  natural minerals,  and the production if  synthetics of  better quality having built in  properties,

c) Starting experiments with mineral with controlled mineralogy, instead of industrial or natural products prevents uncertainty of their characterization, simplify the analysis of the results, allows safe correlation extrapolable to more complicates systems

d) mineral with  controlled chemistry and mineralogy can be used to standardise analytical equipment

e) mineral with  controlled chemistry and mineralogy can be produced at a large quantity ( Kgs) allowing  significative large scale experiments

f) in Cement industry: 
 f1) The production of a mineral at a significant scale (Kg) and controlled composition (chemistry and mineralogy) allows a safe extrapolation of the results from the laboratory to the plant.
 f2) The industrial conditions of burning, cooling (thermal profile, atmosphere) of an industrial product are not known precisely and renders uncertain the correlations between composition and properties.
 f3) The quantity of minor elements introduced as solid solution into the synthetic phases is precise. f) The cement industry rarely provides the intermediated compounds (clinker).

g) In Biochemistry
 g1) The development of synthetic material allows to fill a gap between biochemical applications and civil engineering. Bridges between bio properties and mechanical behaviour gives promising developments.
 g2) Industrial cements are not suitable for medical applications because of the minor elements contents and the lack of reproducibility of their properties.
